Well, the title says it all, but here's a more specific scenario:

Let's say (hypothetically) that I'm at 450HP and I'm running an HTB2 with a 12cm2 housing that's rated at 450 - 500HP. Assuming that water/meth does really add 60-70HP, does this put me in the range for something like the Killer B2, which is rated at 500 - 550HP?

OR, does the reduction in EGTs from water/meth pretty much eliminate the need to step up to bigger turbo?

What about the extra boost gained with water/meth? Any potential problems there with the turbo, besides head gasket failure?

Or is water/meth basically a system that you can install on any setup and not have to worry about turbo problems?

I'm new to this water/meth stuff - but I'm learning more everyday. ;)

Thanks for the help once again!

your on the right track, water meth is a great tool, for gaining power and gaining it safely. Water meth will drop you 250 degrees approx on your egts, your turbo is running a 12 cm housing, lending itself to run hot on the egts, with the htb2 water meth will bring the egts into check, and provide a hp increase , what you might want to consider is a 14 cm housing, if availible, it will lover the egts even lower and providem more boost to your engine, it will also assist in taking care of the new found boost, i dont think your in the range for a new turbo, only if you are not flowing enough air as of now, it will only be worse with more hp from the water meth, Hope this helps

Great response - thanks! I figure that I should be around 450HP with Mach 5s (200HP) and my little Edge EZ. Everett @ HTT strongly suggested that I run a 12cm2 housing because I don't sled pull or drag race. In fact, he wouldn't let me get a 14cm2 housing! :-laf We both agreed that I should mainly be concerned with spool up in my application so that's why I ended up with the 12.

But, this was before I started thinking about water/meth injection. Do you think I should give him a call back and see what he says about that?

I would not change housings... just because of H2O/Meth.

If your 12cm2 is working for you now, and EGT's are not a serious problem, I would stay with it. I would not count on 60-70 hp gain... unless you plan on buying Meth Racing Fuel and mixing it 50-50.

You might gain 2-3 psi boost... which will be controlled by your wastegate... No?

With Mach 5's, you will need/want the quicker spoolup, IMO.

I would base my housing need on my type driving and results... more than HP ratings.
