Yes, mine works in OD quite nicely. I am running a PacBrake with a MaxxPak setup (courtesy of Dave Smith motors). It didn't work only bout 50% of the time when first hookep up. It was the way the original brake was put on wherein I had to flip a toggle switch to activate the brake. But, wiring it into to the MaxxPak or Maxx 3 as some call it, it works great. Only thing is, when slowing in OD, and then you really want to slow, you have to kick it out of OD into third and punch throttle briefly (I know, sounds strange to punch it when wanting to slow down) to trick it with the line pressures and then it really works. Couldn't be happier with the way it works. When it gets to 35 MPH then it kicks out. I NEVER tow in OD tho, so don't have to worry bout punching it in 3rd to slow down.

I was told by...

Shanti, Bill K. 's wife that under NO circumstances should I engage the Pac-Brake in OD; it will trash the TC.

That's all I needed to hear.

My pacbrake works great in OD,3rd,and 2nd gear. I use mine in OD all the time,no tc slippage at all, acording to the tach anyway.

clarification

I'm a bit confused. Why wouldn't you use the pacbrake in OD? Soon as you let off the brake, the smartcontroller automatically kicks it off into 3rd. Perhaps you are talking about not using it in OD without a smartcontroller???

No one ever told me about not engaging the pacbrake in OD. I've naively done it a few times. What should the correct procedure be: engage when starting engine only?, engage only out of OD?, never engage when already running?, or what????

Thanks.

I have a DTT Smart Controller and a Pac Brake and nowhere in my controller instructions does it say not to use the brake in O. D. In fact, the controller sets when the transmission shifts into and out of O. D. I'm sure this is a protection feature.

OOPS.

Let me clarify my post.

Shanti told me that until I get the SmartBox, I shouldn't engage the Pac-Brake in OD.

I would presume that another reason would be that there is less RPM and jointly less Braking HP available in OD.

Does that make sense?

I can only tell you what works for me so far. Obviously, I am not a transmission expert. I do respect DTT's postion immensely. In fact, my next upgrade will be a DTT TC. But, with the setup I have, it works. You have to have a VB to keep line pressure up and have to keep the RPM's up with a mystery switch or whatever. I drive like a little old lady most of the time, but today went over the mountains to central Oregon. Running bout 1700-1800 R's and when I went down the other side, still running the same R's PacBrake really helped. Didn't hardly have to use the service brakes at all. As previously stated, I always tow in 3rd because I know OD is the weakest link and anyway my engine likes it better at 2400 R's, then the PacBrake works really great. Brass monkey, I would have whoever installed you AutoLoc recheck it. Don't know if this helps, but just my humble opinion. Good Luck
