I was wondering what the HELL my 99' truck has been doing. It seems to have a mind of its own. Sometimes I get in and it rips up the pavement like it just got some engine mods... . other times, it is a DOG. Why does this truck vary so much in it's performance? It can last days whether it is a dog or hotrod. Does anyone else see this split personality with their truck?? Is the computer adjusting due to outside conditions??

1. . Cold weather seems to make mine a little doggy.
2. . Check intercooler clamps.
3. . fuel conditioners seem to help mine.
4. . Last but not least hookup a PowerEdge EZ

RankRam,

You suggest the Poweredge EZ?? Is this Plug and Play like the VA CPC? Isnt this the box that has adjustable levels? Any help is appreciated

Thanks- Challenger-II

Challenger I could go on and on about the EZ but most info has already been covered. I suggest you do a search for the VA and EZ you will find plenty of good info from our fellow members.

I will say that I'm very happy with my new found power.

Challenger,

I'm with ya on this one.

Mine does the same thing, its wierd because sometimes you can fire it up, and it is really snappy & powerful, and other times it doesn't have that snappy feel, but still has power if you push it a little more. It feels kinda "lazy" and you have to wake 'er up.

It's like when it starts the CPU sets itself one way sometimes, and different other times. Its never a dog, but sometimes it fires up and its way zippier than others. I've tried to attribute it to weather, temp, humidity, and even how full the tank is, but those things dont seem to be it.

I dont really care, its not a problem, but its a puzzle to figure out.

VA, DD1's, PS Boost module & elbow, BD brake... also, Nitrous Oxide piped direct into the block (stealth - to keep the warranty), 10 gallon per minute fuel pump, ECM right out of Don Garlit's Top Fueler (he gave it to me) (for letting him ride in my truck), Super Modified DD1 Injectors ("Hand Honed" with a 1/4" reamer & my 12v Makita). :) More BOMBING to come. .

10-4 on the edge ez. I'll bet you could find someone and just borrow it for a day or two. That is what I did. You talk about a kick in the pants. It does it. I mean with big boots on not tennis shoes. I am savin up now. I notice my truck seems to like different brand of fuel better than others.

Mines "flaky" too. Cured it with a Power Puck and PS boost mod. Went the Pwr Puck route for the programable feature. Intend to put injectors in some day.

Biggest thing I notice is after a good hard tow it runs great. City driving isn't the best thing in the world for these beasts.

I thought I was the only one with this problem! Sometimes my truck will run 0-60 in the low 12's or high 11's with the "EZ". And at other times it's high 13's and feel doggy.

I think I remember reading a post by Marco. Your computer does read your driving habits. He said to unhook the batteries for 15 min, that'll do the same thing as a hard pull. I'll try to find the post.
Corey

Challenger II,
Here's a link you could look at. Same thing happening. That's where I seen Marco's post. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb//Forum4/HTML/003200.html
