My '01 seems to have an uneven idle, along with a knock that you can somewhat hear at idle but is worst around 1500rpm. It seems like it's been getting worse (or I'm just going more insane... ) over the past few months. The question is, how do I tell if it's a mechanical problem or something fuel system related? Anybody near Houston, TX that can take a listen to it?

What is your fuel pressure? I'm losing my LP right now. When the pressure drops to 5 at idle I get that same lope and knock. Try changing fuel filter as a bandaid. Mike

I get the same uneven idle and knock from time to time. I have decided it is injector knock. When it happens, I give it a good dose of injector cleaner for a couple of tanks and the knock goes away and the motor idles better... for a while. Eventually, I'll probably have to change the injectors.

Pull your injectors and pop test them at your local injection shop, it cost about 20 bucks. I have had very simular knocking as you, the last time ( yesterday) I had 3 bad injectors, by bad I mean they weeped and had very poor atomization. A few weeping injectors are sure to guive you a knock and could possibly result in engine damage. With the pop test the injectors should fire at the same pessure and provide a fine mist with a fast rythem and minial leak off.

Good Luck.
