All Deletes...Question about Exhaust Brake

Well several months ago I bought a DPF-R for my 2010 3500 and just mustered up the energy to install it. Actually installing is the easy part, it was dropping the exhaust that drew the most blood!

My problem is I count 4 temp sensors on my exhaust.

One before the CAT, one before the NOX, one before the DPF and one after the DPF.

The problem is the kit only comes with 3 temp sims.

The instructions show installing the three in the lower part of the exhaust but no mention of the one before the CAT!.

I am leaving on a camping trip this Friday and need to figure this one out.

Anyone have any experience installing one of these in a 2010?

I`d leave the pre-cat unit in place. If you need to calibrate the simulators, I would calibrate it to the output of the pre-cat sensor.

good luck

I can not leave the pre-cat unit in place because the new down pipe doesn't have a hole for it.

Ah-ha. . you didnt mention that. Guess you either need another simulator, or a bung welded into the downpipe. No luck contacting the mfg?

I bought it at Gearboxz. They are not open today so I will have to try tomorrow.

Unless I feel like butchering a temp sensor and wiring in a resistor. It is doable but I rather not cut up a temp sensor until I know the replacement price. I have made that mistake before.

Might be able to do a temp fix by sliding the leads of the resistor into the other side of the connector. You could verify good contact by ohming out the male pins on the other side of the connector. Electrical tape is a good idea in this case also.

Wonder if the exhaust kit was made for a 2009 that has one less sensor. . dunno. . or somethin that has one less sensor. if the instructions only say 3, then its not a missing part.

hmm
