I'm in the middle of installing Sam Peterson's performance pads and they came with a small tube of Moly or Graphite based grease. Is this to grease the outside of the rubber tubes that the caliper pins slide through? The other silicone type grease that came with the pads is for the slide rails and pins themselves. The old rubber tubes were tuff to remove... . adhered to the caliper wth rust and scale. I'm assuming this grease is for the outside of the tube??????

The dark stuff is the anti-squeal material to be applied to the pad backing plates. It is very fluid at first, but sets up quickly.

Look at the contact areas from the old pads, that will tell you where to put the new stuff. Anywhere there was contact between the calipers and the old pads is where you want it on the new pads. HTH.

I usually just make a couple of zig-zag lines on the backside of the pad with the anti-squeal stuff. Let it setup before installing.

This dark gray stuff looks and spreads like grease. I dont know how long it takes to set up but when it does, is it still able to smear like grease?? I sure hope it is for anti-squeal?

Also... do you guys use DOT 4 or Dot 3 brake fluid? It calls for 3 but I figure 4 is better.

Challenger---The black lube is for any metal to metal contract between calipers and mounting brackets. It can be used for anti squeel on the back of the pads but there may not be enough for all of that. Sorry I wasn't able to get to this post sooner. Dot 3 & 4 are both compatible with the brake system. 4 just has a higher boiling point. ----Sam
