I took my truck in for an emergency service this weekend. The truck was leaking diesel fuel. It turned out to be a bad O ring and the dealer replaced the whole fuel filter. The dealer washed my truck for me with what looks to have been a scouring pad. I called the service guy out and he admitted to seeing the scratches and told me to contact the service manager today which, I did. The service manager told me they wash vehicles as a courtesy. When I pointed out I did not see a disclaimer about them scratching my truck he ended the call. Which ended my paying them for anything else.

I will be buying the kit of filters from Geno's. My question is around gear and motor oil. AMsoil is very easy for me to get. Does it meet warranty spec's? Also, what weights should I use.

Thanks

Lee

Been using Amsoil for years and love it. My wife's Durango uses the 0w-30 and my CTD uses the 5w-30 Heavy Duty Diesel. They do make other weights for diesel, but the 5/30 is supposed to give the most benefit. It's best to discuss this with your Amsoil dealer. I also installed their dual remote filtration system and can't say enough good things about it. The new location makes it really easy tpo change the filters and on this program, Amsoil has the customer test the oil before changing it. Typically you can go long periods of time before changing the oil. Just change the filter from time to time. I think now their best filter is a once a year change.

Not that I would ever want to argue the point with Dodge or Amsoil, Amsoil does guarantee that their oil will meet the specs and not harm your engine. If memory serves, I believe they say that if their oil causes damage they will pay. I'm quite sure that it would be impossible to get them and the dealer to agree upon what happened. Either way, I've never had to worry about that and probably never will.

Go to a good paint store... . (automotive) and ask them for a scratch remover for clear coats... I power buffed my 05 this past weekend to remove a lot of surface scratches... . There are several great products out there... . it took me 4 hours to wash the truck and go over it with the buffer... but it looks new... .

Come to think of it, my Amsoil dealer is a member here. CPFF (Cummins Powered Fast Ford) is his screen name. Don't know how often he's on here, but he and his wife can tell you whatever you need to know.
