dome light wont come on when rear drivers door is opened

just curious where to start looking for this issue. dome light comes on fine when the other three doors are opened. this is the side our car seat is on so its kinda annoying in the dark. thanks in advance.

It's not uncommon for the wires to break between the door and jamb. That would be the first place I look.

ditto on the wires in the door jam! my rear drivers lock did not work for a long time till I found a wire broken in the loom, repaired and all good.

just solder or splice them back together

Both my back door wiring in the flexible rubber part had broken in the last two years, replaced with flexible machine wiring made for robots.

Yep! Wires! Seems to be very common on that door... opened more than the passengers side I suspect. Just pull back the rubber boot and the crimped/cut wire will be obvious. It's an easier job if you have a second set of hands to hold the boot back while you splice the wire(s) together. I have progressively re-connected all the wires on that particular door, speaker, window, door lock etc. Very easy to do and a lot cheaper than the cost of a replacment wiring harness from the dealer.

My drivers side rear door speaker hasn't worked for a while, I guess I will look as suggested and repair as necessary.

fixed it yesterday. it was the wires. one was broken and one was almost broken spliced um back together and all works fine now. any tricks to get the rubber boot back over the connector on the door jam?
