The dome lights and radio , cargo lights all went dead while adjusting the brightness on the dash lights. The timer control was clicking while I was trying to find the right detent on the control wheel. The door was open at the time with parking lights on .

I had a fuse tap on the raido to power the trans temp and pyro guage. Ihave moved it to the wipers fuse.

All fuses that I could find check ok under hood and in the side pannel inside. The dash lights are ok.

The Radio 3 slider equalizer lights will come on just for 1 quick moment then goes out.

Dont know if the timer for the dome lights is confiused or what The dome lights cant be turned on with dash wheel or clicking the console map light . The console trip computer is ok.

Any Ideas?????

well this sounds somewhat familiar, but then again, there's no tellin'... so I'll tell ya what happened to mine and you can check yours... I bought an Eclipse in dash 6 disc changer and in dash cassette deck and had my dash cut out to fit double din... anyway, the changer they gave me was not plugged in all the way and as luck would have it, the case of the changer was touching the full time positive connection of the plug. When i went to install it, I laid the changer on top of the cassette deck and they sparked and my domelights went out. anyway I checked every fuse except two that were in special holders... one was airbag... and the other was #12 I. O. D I was scaredto pull them until I looked in my service manual and saw that the radio and dome light are on the #12 circuit... It ended up being that fuse. I was able to take the changer back and tell them it was shorted out and they found the problem with out sending it back. so in my humble opinion, I would say you pulled every fuse except the one in the black cage and the two airbag fused in tan cages and that your #12 fuse is blown. I would guess that it was blown beacuse of a short in your gauges or in your dimmer switch... but you cant really tell without being there to chase down the problem... hope this helps btw: the #12 fuse is in fuse panel driver's side of dash

GGreen,

According to 96 manual ( hoping 2000 wiring is similar but maybe not exactly the same) dome lamp, cargo lamp ... any thing that has to do with courtsey lights go through IOD fuse(96 fuse 17) there is also fuses(large amperage) in the PDC.

The Dome light, cargo light, time delay relay, have common ground Z-3.

Radio ilumination, radio choke relay( supplies power to amplifiers in speakers),radio operation have fuses in the fuse box and PDC, they seem to work off ground Z2.

The time delay realy is gounded through door jamp switches and head lamp switch (line M2 to ground Z3).

Pull your dome light cover off, with test light using remote ground (don't use dome light ground) see if you have power at dome light if not start at light and work back toward PDC looking for broken/shorted wire, bad connections blown fuses, faulty relays/ switches.

If you have power at dome light check to see if ground is working if not trace back as same way as no power.

Check wires going into door for broken wires (ground).

The iod fuse is common to everything that is not working if fuse is not blown in fuse box check related big amp fuse in PDC.

In 96 manaul ground 201/301 is the common grounds ,201 is under right of instrument panel and ground 301 located at rear door pillar near floor. I would imagine grounds for 2000 model are in same area. Z3 hook up with these grounds locations.

Rodzilla !!! You Nailed IT It was the black caged fuse . . I was worred about poping an AIR BAG not knowing what the fuse was for so I let the sleeping dog lie. What does I. O. D stand for??

THANKS for the help Ive been standing on my head checking for loose connections under the dash...

Anyhow Thanks Rodzilla and Missouri Mule for the replies. . Shania Twains voice shure sounds good again when not enjoying the song of the Cummins...

:D :D :D :D :p

Is it save to pull the Airbags fuse and run without them?

This truck should be big and heavy as not to need them. or better to leave them in???

IOD= Ignition Off Draw fuse, As I understand this fuse supplies power to componnents when igniton is in off position. Dome light for one but also radio memory and maybe computer memory need to research a little more. But when you go to dealer this is the fuse they plug back in place before test drive. They ship our trucks with it unpulgged so the battery won't run down.
