Dome/map lights instant on?

I'm not coming up with anything by searching...

Is there an easy way to have the interior lighting switch on and off instantly, as opposed to the slow dim that wrecks my night vision?

I don't think so.
Have you considered red LED instead of bright white? I'd mine that way for the exact reason.
