New trailer and brake controller

My travel trailer has a Dometic RM3862 gas/electric frig. Lately, the only way to start it and keep it on the AC mode is to have the gas shut off at the tanks. If the gas is on, it will start and stay on gas mode. Also, if I do start on AC, with gas turned off, and then later turn on the gas, it may or may not stay in the AC mode. This gets frustrating when we want to cook!

I can only imagine that it must be the controller card on the back of the unit. Has anyone else had this problem? Where is a good source of parts!!

Thanks

Stan

I haven't had that particular problem, but I have replaced two circuit boards on two different Dometic fridges for "reoccuring checklight" problems. I believe there is an aftermarket board from a company called Dinosaur Electronics? Someone correct me on the name if I got it wrong. Sorry, if I couldn't be more helpful.

I had a similar problem with a Dometic refrigerator a few years ago. I called Dometic on their toll free line and was connected to their technical section. I described the problem and the tech diagnosed it as a fairly common problem, the OEM board was losing it's ground connection if I remember right, and recommended a new, revised, circuit board.

I can't remember now if Dometic shipped me the part (at retail) or if they referred me to a local dealer but they were very helpful. I installed the new module which required minor rewiring with the instructions provided and the problem was cured.
