The P550800 has been released(in the last few months) and it meets the new OE spec.

So now there are 3 filters that meet OE spec.

Donaldson P550800

OEM

Baldwin PF7977 (actually exceeds at 5 mic absolute)

Sorry... I wasn't trying to hijack your thread. I was posting a new topic and I guess I was in the wrong window. I removed the thread about my friends '05 and posted it in new topics.

I have to change my fuel filter every few thousand miles. I know this because the past three times i changed it i did so because i could not boost over twenty pounds. I guess the fuel in my area is very dirty. Although the filter itself looks very clean and there are no visible dirt deposits on it.

With that being said i have 2 questions:

1) Will my filter get clogged faster if i buy the Baldwin 5 micron instead of the factory 10?

2) Is there something wrong with the Pep Boys fuel filter i am installing in my truck since it gets clogged every 8,000 miles, or is that the norm?

In theory yes the baldwin could get plugged faster, but it also holds more dirt than the OEM one... And the OEM is 7 microns now.

As far as the Pep Boys I don't know who makes it for them. . but I know that there are only 3 filters I have found that meet OEM Spec

Baldwin
OEM/Fleetguard
Donaldson

I would try a better filter and see if it lasts longer. You may also try a pre-filter like a BF/FS 1212 to catch the big stuff before getting to the OE filter.
