2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Don't overlook the Idler arm

About a month ago I was rolling around on my back under the front of the truck While I was installing a set of in-coil air bags. I had to use my foot to turn the wheels. I noticed that the center link moved upward before it moved sideways... The idler arm was toast. A call it NAPA had me a new one in a day for $127. Dealer price i think included new vehicle with the idler arm. Fifteen minutes to install the new Idler arm... Steering all tight again.

Is this a '2WD only' thing? My only experience with trucks that like to eat idler arms are the IFS GM's...

Makes a difference doesn't it!! I found mine was toast toward the middle of a 2,000 mile trip when the front-end wiggle just kept getting worse and worse. This happened at about 125,000 miles.
