I just completed the install of 19. 5 wheels that thru off my mph so I got a True speed calibrator, simple hookup and it has a switch so you can run 2 different size tires and simply throw the switch for either set, well I got to thinking that if a feller were to use setting 1 for actual and then use setting 2 with it calibrated way low than the puter would never know that you were at 115, I aint tried it yet but with my 19. 5 x 285 wheels I dont think I would run outa r's till around 125-130 mph    OH and this way you wouldnt throw any codes at all (vs. shutting the wheel speed off all together)

Kevin

glad to see you got your tires. I was thinking the same thing sorta. I now have about an 11. 2% error and so I thought that would put me at 127. 8 MPH with my new tires but my speedo would oly show 115 but you know what I dont think I am going to do it. I'm turning 40 this October and well the tires are rated at only 75 MPH, You did know that didnt you and have you ever calculated the amount of inertial energy a 165 lb 35 inch tire would be unduring at 130 MPH? Long story short I will concentrate on testing these tires load carrying capabilitties and not their speed capabilities. Plus it gives me a good excuse to stop making a fool of myself at the strip :)

Not that it has much bearing on the subject, I just gotta tell somebody else. On the way to Tenn. Monday morning of this week I had my GPS turned on and passed another CTD that was traveling with me. I was going up a slight grade and the old girl was still speeding up when I got out of it after I passed him. The needle was showing about 110mph. I checked the GPS upon slowing. 121mph-- holy . . it! That was on 35" BFG MT's on a truck that came with 245's.

Plus I cant go this fast anymore because it will exceed my max HOG energy which for my truck at 7500 lbs is 114 MPH You see the engineers designed it to stop at that energy. CHANCE?

Yes I see your poin of view Lponder and agree with you statement totally, I am in the same boat as you. I thinkl that for SOME this could be an option, like the guys that are hitting 115 in the drag races and de-fueling befor the finish line

This option is for those guys

Cheers, Kevin

Another idea is to change the calibration by a factor of 0. 621 and use the kilometer scale on the speedo. This would keep your warrantee in effect for 160900 miles because the odometer will be modified also.

I didn’t say anything, and I am my own warrantee station :)
