The switch in the body for the door open chime got pushed into the cab cavity. Don't ask, it's stupid thing I've done this year #2135. How can I get into that area to retrieve the switch? Is there an opening behind the backing plate for the parking break assembly?

I thought everything was OK until last night when I found that the dash and cab lights do not work like they should anymore.

Well I guess you have already figured out that the switch is supposed to be serviced from outside the door jamb. The manual don't mention anything about retrieving it from inside the jamb? Iwould remove the kickplate cover behind the E-brake lever, there should be a small hole in the area where you may be able to access the switch. If that fails then you may have to fish the wire out through the mounting hole. I would disconnect the batteries if that is the case. I had to replace one of mine recently. Got it at auto parts place for about ten dollars. bg http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?PartType=405&PTSet=A&SearchFor=Door Jamb Switch

Oh I almost forgot, to keep from doing #2136 this year or # 1 next year depending on when you get the new switch, don't snap the ring on it in place, that is supposed to happen when you punch it in the hole in the door jamb. I recently replaced one of mine and I snapped it together before I had even paid for it at the auto parts place. bg

Ok, the kick panel did the trick. Large enough opening to retrieve the switch and install in the holder. No damage and works fine now.

Thanks B. G.
