Hey Yall

Looking for door ding guards to go on my truck (didn't come with them). I think they are rubber pieces that are mounted toward the bottom of each door. My old 1/2 ton 99 RAM gasser had them. I have seen some chrome and black ones on other trucks of the same year. Do I have to go to a Dodge dealer to get them or does anyone know of a place to get these 4 items. There is one per door, and does anyone know how they are installed? Do they stick on? Or some other way?

"Body Side Moldings", I think. They're also available in body-color, but didn't come on Sport models. I ordered them from the dealer's parts department for my sport--they come with self-adhesive backings, and just stick on (I let the dealer install mine while the truck was in for service, since I never trust adhesive tape, but they're still nice and secure).

I've got a set of brand new Mopar ones in the box. The only thing is that they are the charcoal color. PM me if interested.

What you are describing I believe are door edge guards. Mopar sells the black stainless steel ones (tap them into place) Or you can get aftermarket ones that stick on the door edges, Black or chrome finish.

I think he's talking about the body side mouldings that run along each door... .

For what it's worth, they are 200 per side for the chrome ones. But they DO look sweet!!!!

Dodge part numbers, if you want the black ones, I put them on my truck as it did not come with them.

the top one is the for the front doors the bottom one is for the rear doors. These are molded black like the covering on the rear bumper not gloss black, which I think you could get as the molding is available in body colors.

They really don't do a lot of good since the door sticks out farther above to guards. If you open your door in a garage with a center beam the door will hit the beam and the door guard will still be 1/2 inch from anything. It may help if you park next to a viper or small car. The door guards on the 2nd gens actually stuck out farther than any part of the door and actually worked much better. They look good but have no function. The chrome guards on my 04 laramie sure do create a good look to the truck though.

I put mine higher than the factory installs them. Used 1" tape above the crease or channel on the side of the truck like a pin stipe, for a guide. Coated the guards with black vinyl dye to match the runnig boards. This puts them on the farethest point out on the door also. .

I bought mine from Dodge for the prices quoted. For alignment, I taped them in place and looked them over from every angle to align them perfectly. Then I took a temporary marker from the note pad the Mrs keeps on the fridge and outlined the positions, removed the tape and stuck the moldings on. Picture in reader's rigs to the left.

If you do it yourself, wipe down the area first with a half alcohol half water solution to remove wax. They'll stick to the truck for the rest of it's life...
