Well, after putting off the door hinge repairs, I finally went to NAPA, spent the $5. 00 for the repair kit, and fixed the drivers door this weekend. You guys were right, this is a real easy fix. Somehow I was expecting a much tougher fix.

Set up my jackstands, drove the pin out of the bottom hinge then unbolted the top hinghe from the door and had the wife hold it after I slid it out from the truck as far as the wiring harness would allow. Replaced the bushings, put the upper hinge back together/ rebolted to the door, and then positioned the door and put the bottom hinge pin back in. Took about 30 minutes. Closes better but I still have a little wind noise. Will need to play with the door adjustment some to get the fit a little better.

Hey Stan,

It's about time!! :p I told ya there was nothing to it!

BTW, the truck is running really well . . almost a little too well. Stock transmission is showing a few signs of HP abuse. Don't have the spare change for a DTT setup :{ so gotta get something figured out. :(

You inspired me to do my driver side today, they only had one kit, I used the engine hoist to hold up the door, which works great, because the way the wiring harness runs between the jam and door you get more slack(more room to work) as you lift the door after removing the lower pin and upper hindge. If I had waited for my wife to be around, or stuck a pad between the door and fender I might not have put the small scratch in the paint either... . I had to seat the bushings in the hindges with a little liquid weld(epoxy) as they were not a tight fit... ...

door hinges

When I first joined I remember someone saying the hinges weren't that expensive from dodge and was a better fix. my doors sag some and I get light and rain through the drivers door at the top. any comments?

thanks

Cliff,

When I did the repairs, I noticed that the top hinge bolts into the door are slotted for some in and out adjustment. Took mine in to close up the door at the top front of the door. It fits tighter now but I still need to play around to get the door even. I suspect the bottom hinge also has some play in order to adjust the door even more.

Like RGT, the new bushings weren't real tight, I tried using loctight but will need to use some epoxy to fix securely.

The kits I got were in those "HELP" parts that hang on the rack they were labeled "Dodge/Chrysler" Upper and lower, or something like that, they included the long lower pin, the short upper pin and 4 bushings..... I had to go to 2 places as each place only had 1 kit in the rack, at both places they were on the top left of the rack... . don't forget the epoxy(liquid weld)
