HElp.. my door/light/ignition buzzer went out, i was able to find one on Ebay, since dealer told me they are not made anymore..anyway, the Factory Manual shows it is mount on a metal bracket behind the knee panel under the steering wheel, i removed that panel and nothing. so i've been looking under the dash.. NOTHING..

does anybody have a clue as to it's location.. maybe open door with key in ignition and listen to where it is buzzing from, a general idea would help please..

Thank you

dave.. with a kink neck....

Mine has been riding in the glove box since the second day of ownership, I'll give it to you for the cost of postage. However, all I can remember after 18 years is that it was near the steering column.

I just ran out for a quick minute and it sounds like it is mounted on the back side of the fuse panel. I popped the fuse cover off and you can feel the buzzer vibrating if you put your finger on the flashers.
I did not have a screwdriver with me, I may go out at lunchtime and pull the knee bolster down.

Mike.

awesome.. i'll look again in that area.. the picture in the Service manual shows right behind the knee bolster, but mine is just a metal bracket.... but as soon as more daylight wil go andc check

Thank YOU mwilson..

I had my dealer disconnect that irritating buzzer before my new '97 3500 CTD dually left the lot. It's located behind the knee panel near the steering column.

Bill

Maybe the metal behind the bolster is transferring the vibrations to the fuse panel bracket. It is to the left of the column for sure.

I actually prefer that the buzzer work. I drive several different vehicles and the buzzers / chimes keep me from doing something stupid like leaving the lights on or the keys in the ignition.

I also stopped pulling the key out just enough to silence the buzzer after locking myself out one day.

Bill.. i have that bracket removed and still don't see anything lie that buzzer, think i will drive down to dealer and ask if anybody can tell me where it is. because i have been under that dash past two days and nothing....sigh.. i wish i heard where it was coming from before it died. lol oh well.. Thank You

Give me an hour or so before you go to the dealer. I will pull the kick panel down at lunchtime, only take me a minute.

ok will do.. Thank you.. but where the service manual shows, it is behind the panel. shows that metal bracket, but no buzzer....i even took the steering wheel cover off, thought maybe in there...

Found it, took me two tries before I figured it out. Will upload a photo in a minute...

The rectangular box at my fingertip......
