door lock cylinders wires connected

I was replacing my door handles with painted ones. When I disassembeled the drivers side there was a retainer looking thing on the back of the cylinder with wires coming out of it that connects onto the door wiring harness... . what is it called??? I want to add a key entry on the passengers side ... . I went to the dealership and the parts guy claimed that he does not show any such part for either door???



Any ideas?? Im guessing its a switch of sorts to sense when the key is used. .
