I walked past my 2005 Dodge 3500 Crewcab truck and could hear a clicking sound, it was OK yesterday. As I looked into the window I could see my door lock pins going up and down. I didn’t have my remote/keys so I went into the house 30’ away. When I returned to the truck the locks were still operating. I checked the remote and it would operate them too. I pulled the fuse to stop them and when replaced it, the locks began to open/lock again. I currently have #22, the 20 amp fuse removed. Any ideas?

Waited 30 min. Put fuse back in, cycling started after 30 sec. Removed fuse, waited a minute, reinstalled, seemed OK. Removed fuse until I can monitor longer.

Might try disconnecting the truck batterys for a while.
It rarely does much but it might reset it.

If that doesn't work, I would remove the control module that's plugged into the back of your instrument cluster and see if it stops (just about has to).
The module doesn't seem to be available anymore but perhaps someone can repair it. There isn't much to it. It could even be another case of cold solder joints like so many systems in our trucks tend to suffer from (window switches, instrument clusters, etc). Those are easy to identify if you know what your looking for and is super easy to fix. If you run out of options, send it to me and I'll take a look at it. (I was a certified weapons spec solderer).

Good luck!
Scott

Check batteries and connections. Usually when gremlins like that show up there is an electrical issue, start with the batteries and make sure they test good and hold charge.

My 04 would react like that on occasion. Seem it would happen in warm weather. Especially if the sun was shining on the drivers door.
The dealer replaced the door lock switch in the drivers door. Bingo never happened again.

Scott and others, Well today I disconnected both batteries for 10 minutes. Once reconnected, everything seems to be operating as new. I’ve got my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help. Bob.

I always blame stuff like this on my TIPM. Probably not the problem but always a good reason. The battery reset most times works.
