My 03 only rattled in the driver door and it wa the lock/unlock knob. It was easy enought to fix.

My 05 had that rattle and fixed it easy enough. Then the passenger door started rattling and I packed the area for unlock/lock knob and that didn't fix it.

I can't find it and it sounds like it is plastic on plastic. Any ideas?

Rattle

JRRichard

I had one rattle that drove me crazy. I had my wife drive my 04 CTD while I crawled around inside the cab.

It took me 2 days to figure out that the rattle was the drink holder that flips down from the dashboard. I put the drink holder in the closed position and the rattle went away. I then applied a little silicon grease to all the pivot points and the rattle went away and has stayed away.

Sometimes it's simple and sometimes you just want to shoot the dang thing.

Second rattle was my trailer ball in my receiver hitch. Took my about 2 hours to find it after checking my shocks, muffler, tail pipe, etc. to see if anything was loose under the truck.

Third rattle was the spare tire underneath. I had a flat, let a tire repair shop fix the flat and told them to put the spare back under. They did, but didn't snug the spare tire up. Took my about 1 hour to find that one.

All I can say is perserverance will win!! :)

If my wife rests here arm on the arm rest it stops! So, I carefully shook the (insert 4 letter word of your choice) out of the door holding it in several different places. Could not replicate the noise.

I noticed the door handle was rubbing the outside of the plastic panel. SO, I removed the door panel for what seemed like the 18millionth time and shimmed the metal part that the door handle screws onto outward until the handle didn't rub anymore! I will test it out tomorrow!

Well, that wasn't the problem. Any IDEAS ????????????????????

I never had such bad rattles on my 03!

Spray some oil or Armorall (oil lasts longer) all around the edge, aiming it to go under the panel. Wipe off excess, and you're set for a year or two.

If that fails, remove door cover (it's not that bad) and apply grease/jelly all around the edge and the hooks and all contact points/screws etc.

I tried the regular Armor all and that didn't work ! I had a bottle of some Armor-All premium detailers stuff wich was thicker than the normal one! No more rattle from that door!

Thanks MAN!
