I am considering the DOR bumper. I have a question about engine cooling. Have you experienced any problems with overheating? I notice there are no vents in the bumper like the factory has. Has this created any problem with cooling? It seems to be a very well built bumper and I like the idea of it being only 130 lbs.

By the way, thanks for the response regarding the phone number for Layne. His new direct phone number is 970-858-4010.

gets a little warmer...

i had the same concern. on my 99 (180*F thermostat) so i have been watching it closely and this is what i observe:

running empty... no change

running empty with A/C on above 70 degrees outside air temp (OAT)... just slightly higher

running with bed load and no A/C... same as empty with A/C

running with bed load and 6k pound trailer and A/C... guage straight up 190* and slightly higher if running up the mountian.

this doesn't really concern me much 'casue the newer trucks have a 190* thermostat from the factory to begin with. i have never been able to overheat it though.

i would not worry about it if i were you.

Zero problems here. Even if you went without the winch setup it sits far enough forward of the coolers to not interfere with airflow. It also has a wide gap underneath that normally isn't there with the stock bumper. I didn't notice any difference before/after.
