Dot 3 & Dot 4 mixed - OK?

Did front pads on wifey mobile, had to suck out some fluid to compress calipers. When I was all done I filled the resivoir with fresh Dot 3 (about 2 ounces) and put the cap back on . . . Of course it was then that I saw the "Dot 4" on the lid.



Do I need to flush or will I be OK?

I think DOT3 and 4 together are OK, just not 5. 5 is something different altogether.

i can't say how dot 3 effects american cars but it can screw with the euro stuff that i work on for a living, dot 3 turns natural rubber to jello, on bmws it's just the grommets for the resivior, on older british cars it's every seal and hose. they probably spec'ed dot 4 for it's higher boiling point and not it's lack of alcohol
