Big International Truck!

Is your truck undersized for your load?

Any of you professionial haulers running numbers. Tried applying at the Federal Motor Vehicles site, but it will not allow me to finish transaction. Something toward the end about reviewing my answers, what am I missing here? I am hauling car/ utility trailers with my 1- ton dually from Oklahoma out west. TIA Mark

It is a two part registration one is the USDOT number the other is a motor carrier autorithy issued by the state. I am going tomorrow to meet with an enforcement officer (they do a reveiw of procedures and paperwork with everyone that applies, took a little while as I applied back in Feb/Mar). I think Iahve all my ducks in a row and will post all the regs when I get back later this week.

Actually, you need federal authority if you are doing interstate transport. If you are only intrastate, you need to meet the requirements for operating authority in your state.

Are you pulling only for one dealer? If so, you don't need authority; you can operate as a private carrier. However, if you are "for hire" you can apply for authority on the federal web site. Once you apply, they will send you some paperwork that you will need to complete including insurance/bond info etc. It is kind of a pain.

I got lucky and leased to a single dealership for RVs and am able to operate as a private carrier. We got our DOT number online in only a few minutes.

Well, hopped on the phone this morning and recieved my number!! Oo. I'am operating as a private carrier since the goods i am hauling are bought/ and sold by me as part of my motorsports program. Am having my magnetic signs for the truck being made tomorrow!!
