Which TC?

I need it hauled! TN members, PLEASE READ!

My truck and trailor combined weight rating exceed 10,000 lbs and I use it for my buisiness so I'm in the process of getting it DOT certified. Rebuilt the trailor brakes, new break away battery, one new tire and a fire ext in the cab, what am I missing? Want to get it done with one visit. DW

raod flares, a first aid kit and blanket wouldnt hurt ether. if you show them you are willing to go above min requirements they seem to be a bit nicer. i know when i was in AZ i had to get the tow trucks i drove checked out all the time. if i was nice to them even when they pointed out a problem they were awesome back. show up with a VERY clean rig and more than you are REQUIRED to have for safety equipment then they will be VERY easy going. or atleast in my 15 or 20 visits it worked that way.

And more times than not I've appreciated having an operational flashlight. Not required, but sure comes in handy.

Cheers,

Steve J

If you plan to use the vehicle as a CMV, I would recommend you obtain the most current copy of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations from your local trucking association, or go online to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Of particular interest to you as far as the vehicle is concerned are Parts 390, 393 and 396. Most states adopt these regulations into their statutes, and some may have other laws that apply to CMVs.

I would look at the above Parts before having your vehicle inspected. Best wishes.

Hello,

Are you going across state lines? Ar eyou hauling other peoples stuff?

You will need to keep a log book but you don't have to have it with you unless you are traveling over 100 air miles away from your terminal.

You will need a DOT physical.

You need a USDOT # (free) - https://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/PKG_REGISTRATION.prc_option

You have to put your USDOT # and your company name and home terminal city and state on the side of the truck.

e. g.

JOES TRUCKING

MESA, AZ

USDOT 2131451

You need the triangles, you need a federal motor carrier inspection. All sorts of fun stuff.

A lot of this stuff may not apply if you are not actually in the business of hauling goods or if you're not going across state lines.
