Dowel Pin Damage?

I read a lot about the dreaded dowel pin problem in 12 valve trucks. Our trucks are also 12 valve, but always referred to as 1st generation. Do we have the same potential high dollar self destructing device in our trucks? Mine is getting very close to 200,000 miles on it. I would like to keep it alive to the million mile mark, if the body lasts that long... Thanks, Glen

You are correct. The dowel pin problem resides in our trucks. Do a search in the archives to find different ways of fiixing the issue. There are two ways that I know of. Taking off the front cover will give you a plethora of other things to "fix" while you are in there. Besides the KDP you can check the five bolts with the 10 mm heads that have a way of working loose, and you can change your front main seal. Then you can sleep happy at night figuring you solved some of the pesky problems. This is the way I would recommend
