Downloaders and Sentry Key function

Does anyone have insight into the potential problems with use of downloaders and the function of the grey Sentry Key?



I'm planning to upload a PPE Xcelerator this weekend - but I am a bit apprehensive about having the truck not start due to conflicts with the ECM and the key. The PPE manual says that the Sentry function will be disabled/lost. I can live with that, just don't want to have to tow the truck to the dealer to have the ECM reflashed.



Any information would be appreciated.

I have a Bully Dog Power Pup and there was talk about the sentry key not working. Before I put any programs on my truck, I had a key made at the hardware store. They key would not start the truck. I programed the truck and the key did not start the truck on any of the programs.

Most likely you'll see a P0633 code, Skim key not programmed in ECM.



I got that code on mine using a Triple Dog, but I haven't checked to see if a normal (black key) will start the truck.

I have a Sentry Key and the Triple Dog and have not had any codes trip, have they fixed this problem with the latest down loads, 2. 2. 5a and 2. 2. 6?



Has anyone figured out what the latest flash changed?
