Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Downshifting

My 2001 automatic 3. 54 while in cruise downshifts out of OD more readily than my 1996 automatic 3. 54 did under similar circumstances. It does this sometimes when it doesn't quite seem like it is necessary. Is this difference between trucks due to different programming of the transmission? Can this be changed? Thanks.

Most likely can be reprogrammed ... is it doing it when you push the throttle the same way on this verses the old one?



1 thing is the new truck has more power so that might be it, ... the kickdown on the throttle linkage might be able to be adjusted... I don't know...
