DPF and EGR questions

So I am new to the 4th gen crowd, just got my new ride a few days ago. I have a few questions that I cannot seem to find the specific answers to in the forums. It looks like H&S is the "go to" products for the EGR stuff. If i get the EGR kit, do I have to have the tuner to make the ECM adjustments as well? I would really like to do a EGR and DPF delete for fuel economy, but don't really need or want (yet) a $1000 (or more) tuner for performance and monitoring just to fool the ECM that the EGR and the DPF are gone. Is there an option that allows me to remove the DPF and EGR with a simple plug in module to fool the ECM without breaking the bank?

You need a tuner of some type H&S, SmartyJR, etc.

A Smarty JR will cost you around $495 + tax. Another way is to use 100 ohm SIMS to fool the ECM. Some owners of the eary 6. 7 Cummins Ram users did it this way since a tuner was not available on the market as of than.
