Custom AMSOil bypass Blackstone results

I had a long conversation with the owner of Advanced Thermal Products the other day about installing and using his products on my exhaust system. The more he explained the advantages of keeping the exhaust hotter the more I have studied the idea. Especially in the winter I think wrapping the exhaust from the turbo to the end of the DPF is a really great idea. It does seem to me that if your system has a much higher temp the less often your ECM is going to call for a regen. :-laf

Any ideas?

First of all, wrapping exhaust might fly in the road salt free areas, but around here that would be a recipe for an early exhaust system death.

I also don't relish the idea of wrapping anything reaching those temps. The DPF/cat in particular already gets extremely hot... the fact that it isn't wrapped in OEM form is telling... it obviously needs to shed some heat directly in addition to whatever might be lost from exhaust flow going through it.

Preventing even a small amount of head from being shed by using insulation and so forth could cause component failure since you're now placing the materials outside of their design limits. Your mileage may vary, but you will be your own warranty station if this happens. I personally don't want to know what it would cost to replace a DPF/cat.

There are many advantages of keeping the exhaust good and hot, but I'm not convinced that using a wrap is a good idea. Double walled exhaust pipes? I'd go for that...

I'm not saying it's a bad idea - innovative ideas like this are great. BUT, directly applying a wrap like that has many disadvantages.
