FWIW, diesel soot was determined to be a carcinogen by whoever makes that call in the Socialist State of California. Because of this several high dollar lawsuits have been filed against everyone from truckers to cruise line operators and oil companies.

Never mind if your equipment met the Government requirements at the date of manufacture.

It's a big mess and soon to get worse as the CAP plan is implemented in Southern California. It will require all trucks to be 2007 emission compliant within about three years or be banned from the Los Angeles area! Even trucks that may be from other states will be required to be compliant.

Eventually CA will run off every business and everyone working for a living and only the socialist legislature, state employees, hollywood leftists, illegal immigrants, and retirees will be left. They'll have their utopia then.

Sounds good to me - the fewer people the better!Oo.

Why not take the DPF down and make it a straight flow through design. Still keep the electronics and maybe it would keep it from cloggin. The ECM senses no clogging thus no regen. Just a thought.

Same thing people do with catalysts - core them out. I think it's a fine idea, except that DPFs are extremely expensive. So unless you're doing it because the EPA is actually looking to see that a DPF is present, you're financially better off removing it and replacing it with a pipe.

Sell the DPF or retain until you resell the truck.

Wouldn't removing it void your warranty? I understand a company is working on a kit to eliminate it,and it also addresses the problem of throwing codes. I assume even if you had no codes if the dealer saw it was missing they could revoke the warranty... .

The warranty issue, isn't my concern... what bothers me is the state emission test...

Remember back when the CAT first appeared on cars... I can remember that vehicles going in for emission tests failed for no other reason then the CAT wasn't on the car... Here where I'm at in WA we have to run our Diesels in for a basic test to renew our plates... I'd hate to take the thing off only to find that I had to put it back on to test... . or find that now they ticket you for it not being there... ...
