I just installed a DPP exhaust Saturday and I love the sound and looks I get. I had a fellow CTD owner pull up next to me at a light today. He had an '03 2500 HO 4x4. He asked me if I could feel an increase with the exhaust.

I felt like I had to be honest and told him I really see a difference in EGT's but not speed. I told him the power I really experienced was when I put a fueling box on (EZ). So then he said "you didn't feel any difference w/ the exhaust then". I said, "not really" and the light turned green. So I told him this is what all my mods do together. I broke loose the rear end and smoked my tires as I left the light.

I feel like the truck is actually slower now with the "4 exhaust. I think it's psychological because I'm used to hearing the turbo whine. Now all I hear is the exhaust. Don't get me wrong, I love the sound but am afraid I may have slowed the truck down. Has anyone else had this sensation and is just my warped senses f***%#@ with me?

Am I missing something here? being a new ctd driver from many gas dodges that I have upgraded. I have measured my stock exhaust and its 4 inches id all the way to the turbo. what would I gain with say a Banks monster 4incher?

LEngles, 04. 5's have 4" turbo back exhaust, the 03 and 04's have 3. 5" post turbo going to a 4" exhaust. You would only gain something by doing away with the cat and/or stock muffler in your case.

Klepfer, can't help you there buddy.

I think it's that the truck has more of a spread of power beyond 2000 rpm's with the aftermarket exhausts which makes the bottom end SEEM less. After drivin' mine awhile and feelin' it out the bottom end seems to be just as strong as before. Stock mine just seemed to go flat at 2000 and didn't seem to change much after that but with the 4"er it just seems to breathe better all around without any significant bottom end loss--if any IMHSOP observation. ;)

Thanks Mark and EMD-Run8 for your feedback. That is exactly what I was suspecting. I just needed to hear it from others who have done similar mods. I also needed to hear from those who have seen the dyno results or 0-60 times.

By the way, I towed my jetskis to the lake today and I feel the difference with my new exhaust. It's great to be able floor it off the line and not have to worry about EGT's.

When I get my DTT 48RE upgrade I know I'll be pleased by getting all that HP from the flywheel to the tires. Oo.
