Does anyone know if the red line box is worth the extra money. Right now i have a comp box on my 2001 truck. I have been sled pulling the truck at and want to upgrade to the drag comp unless its worth just sell it and go with the red line. Is there a big power jump wiht the red line and does it eat VP44 faster. Scott

If you will stack a Redline with an EZ you will see about 15 more HP than a drag Comp. The real advatage of the redline is the increase rpm range! But you must upgrade you stock valvetrain to take advantage of the increased RPM.

I think the Redline fuels harder/more than the drag comp I had before and I like having the higher rpm limit. You might want to try several different timing boxes to see witch one makes YOUR truck run the best.

I would like to know what mods need to be done also. I am searching for a competitive box to put on my try without cooking the new hrvp I just installed. I was looking at the drag comp but I am a little worried about tapping the pump wire.

A minimum of upgraded valvesprings must be used. The 24v trucks start making valve to piston contact much above 3400 with normal boost..... When twins are thrown in I have seen valve to piston contact with the normal rpm limit of 3400.

There are several vendors that offer valvetrain upgrades but be careful as not all are created equal. In fact we tested some valvesprings offered by a well know company that had less pressure than stock springs!

You can look here for some springs offered for sale: Valve Springs
