Competition Proper way to DECK a HEAD.... I need info

Competition Looking for sleeper (one less Toyota)

For those of you with an 06 4x4 with the electronic shift knob on the dash. Does the knob allow you to control the disengaugement of the front end well enough to launch in 4wd, and take it out of 4wd after you launch? also what actuates the shift. Is it vacuum or electronic? Thanks for your help.

It's a good thing that it won't disengage under WOT. I don't think you would like what you hear. Transfer case probably wouldn't last through too many of them! :--)

Okay, what I want to know is if it will disengauge under WOT. It works just fine on the trucks with the lever on the floor. I know the xfer case will be okay, but will the electronics let me do it? Maybe I will just have to show the salesman what a 4wd launch is like at 20 lbs of boost.

I would think you would have to let off of the throttle to allow it to disengage. With that much torque on it at WOT, it probably wouldn't release.

Have you took one out of 4x4 at WOT, with the stick in the floor?

Do you know for sure that it came out of 4x4, or just that the stick moved?

I'm not sure if it is a direct linkage that will pull it out of 4x4.

I think I would be too sceered to try it.

it's spring loaded on the release, lever forced on engagement to but it in simple terms. I'm not sure how it really works in the T-case. But I've done it for years in my XJ and my Ram.

You can grind it putting it into 4x4 right? but pulling it out of 4x4 you never hear anything. But the second you release load you head that pop sound of disengagement.

I run 2nd gear 4x4 launches, now with the new working box, I run 3rd gear in 4x4 as well, depending on the road. Once I get into 3rd, I pull the 4x4 level and the second I shift into 4th I get a chirp from the rear tires and keep moving.

Mastering turning off 4x4 between the launch and shift to 3rd it's rather tricky. it's doable, I've done it in the time span of 2000rpm and 3000rpm with a laggy edge box. But now, I don't think it's feesable. R's move to fast in my case. And there's just to much power to keep the tires from spinning in 3rd.
