Well, I would like to start off by saying I don't have the stomach to launch my truck as I could for drag racing. My reaction time was 1. 3 second on both runs.
I never did get to run against my friend with his F-350 but it is probably better that way. It wouldn't have been fair.
He is stock with a 5. 4 v-8 and put on a good effort. The New England Drag way was extremely crowded. 2 runs in 2. 5 hours. When I got there a guy with his 99-up F-250 pulled a 19 second run at 94 mph. I thought I was in trouble but the slow time may have been his auto?? He had an exhaust and made a lot of smoke. The mph were good but the time wasn't. That made me nervous. But my first run was 17. 6 at 78 mph. I was disappointed. I thought I would be in the 80's. The final run I decided to take the wife. I pulled a 17. 1 at 82 mph. That's more like it. Strange how more weight would get me there faster. I just hate to shift that truck like that. With weight that puts me at 260 hp at the rear wheels with my speed on the second run. My original goal was 250 hp. I pull 22-23 psi and have a max EGT of 1000* pre-turbo. Maybe with a Piers turbo, more pump tuning, and a 14 cm2 housing I'll get 300 hp at the wheels. Or I may have that if I can find the heart to launch it like I have money falling out of my pockets to fix anything.
Time would definitely improve with a smoother shifting transmission. It was a good time. Would have been better with fewer vehicles and more runs but...
