What a day today!!!
#ad
I went to the Mid Michigan motorplex for a test and tune session to figure out a launch technique and how to get consistent times for bracket racing. I had invited all my GLTDR brethren but NOONE showed up (where were you guys??) so I had to wield the diesel sword myself - and did so very well if I must say so myself! My goal for the day was to hopefully break into the 15's. Using the GLTDR g-tech I had recorded a 16. 3@92. 8 mph - I was expecting better than a 16. 5 but was hoping to break into the 15's. I did better than I expected - my best time was 15. 784 @ 87. 97 mph (with my best trap speed at 88 mph)!!

Not only that but there was a 30 mph direct headwind today at the track! Here's a pic of the truck at the strip:

I beat him, BTW

!! I was doing a bunch of testing today to look for consistency for bracket racing because I've never raced a turbo'd vehicle before - 3 of my runs are 6 minutes apart each - I did that on purpose to see what built up heat would do to my times (look below and you'll see it makes a HUGE difference). While I was there I also thought I would test the GLTDR clubs g-tech to see what it's accuracy is like, I ran it on most runs and put the times and mph's for those runs on the chart below so you can compare. My opinion is that it's pretty accurate, it's a little slow on ET (. 2 or so) and a little fast on MPH (4 mph or so) - look at the numbers for yourself. The accuracy may have also been affected by the winds as the instructions say winds affect the accuracy. Several runs timing slips were scrapped because the high winds blew stuff across the timing lights and screwed up the clocks. I beat a Dakota R/T with headers, exhaust, injectors, chip, and a K&N; also beat a 70's Camaro that was fairly built; and an 80's Trans Am that sure sounded awfully loud! I got LOTS of compliments on how the truck ran - they were laughing until my first run, then they gave me respect

! I stopped at a truck stop scale on the way home and weighed in at 7500 lbs, btw.
My ladder bars worked INCREDIBLE!!! Last year if I launched above 1400 rpm I'd just spin the tires. This time I was able to launch at 1800 rpm (and I'm making a lot more power there now too - last time all I had was an original powermax). I have video of one run and when I did my burnout, the two launches I did to the line, and the launch off the line - you can watch the bed of the truck lift from the rear tires as the ladder bars PUSH the tires into the ground - just like the drag cars!! As long as the truck is, you can't feel it lift in the rear from the cab but on video it stands right out! I'm going to email DavidVT and see if he can get the video on the net for you guys to see, that particular run sucked (I was trying a low rpm launch and ran a 16. 8 because I bogged off the line - but that's what test and tune days are for!) but you can see in the burnout and launch area how the bars are working! Here's a link to my 3 best time slips - http://gltdr.org/uploads/04-08slips.jpg . Here's a chart of my times and the g-tech times:
