Competition drag racing

I'm wanting to get started in drag racing so I have some questions on it if anyone could help me. First my pickup is a 5 speed with dd2, comp box and I got my SBC coming. So I was wondering what gear to start off in and how is the best way to build my boost while taking it easy on the clutch if at all possible. So if I could get some help thank you guys.
