I'll be there June 13 through 17. We are going to be in the Gallup, Mesa Verde area and over to Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Gooseneck State Park, etc. .

In NW NM you are not far from some of the great sites in America. Petrified National Forest, Meteor Crater, Canyon de Chelley, Lake Powell, etc.

If you like the old train rides, you might want to look into the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic R. R. It goes from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO. Chama, NM is on Hwy 84, just south of the NM/CO border.

I've never taken that train ride but, have heard that it is really nice. However, I did drive through the area, years ago, and it looked very nice.

The Durango/Silverton, CO. train ride is superb. I've done it twice and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I've taken both trains. both are good, but the scenery is spectacular on the Durango to Silverton route. They also have a roundhouse tour.

thanks for all the suggestions. we've done durango/silverton area a couple of times, even pulling the 30'TT to Silverton to enjoy the town after the trains leave for the day. please keep the NW New Mexico sites/attractions coming!!!
