Changed transmission fluid today. Had trouble locating the drain plug for the torque converter. Must be looking in the wrong place. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Remove the inspection plate on the bottom of the bellhousing. You will see the flywheel and tourqe converter. Rotate the engine until the plug shows up.

Thanks,Ill give that a try as soon as its light enough outside. I had taken the inspection plate off . Didnt think to rotate the flywheel. Thanks for the reply. How much fluid do you think is in the torque converter.

Can not remember but I think there is quite abit. I do not have the capacities handy but the 2 brain cells I have left seem to remember 15 qts with a converter drain. Add another 4 with the double deep pan. Remember you do not put all the fluid in at once before you start it up then doing the reverse, drive, nuetral routine while adding the rest.

DTT convertor plug.

Put transmission in neutral, open inspection plate and just use an oversized screwdriver as leverage and engage flywheel teeth with screwdriver blade. It'll move the flywheel two-three inches at a whack. Real easy. The convertor holds 4-5 qts.

Thanks everyone. That was most helpful. Found the plug, drained the torque converter and off we go.

Xmas wish list. One Barring tool. I've come across other times when I've needed to rotate the engine. Looks like I'll need a bigger tool box.

Thanks Again

Mike

Thanks to all.

Thanks to all for the feedback. Trucks running great. Just got back from New Mexico about a 1500 mile roundtrip and she drove like a Rocketship.

Take Care Everyone
