stock TURBO durability??????

Where to buy texaco 1874 Mtx

I have the heavy duty plug with the magnetic end. It's only been on for a few hundred miles. It seems more stout than the stocker. So far so good.

I didn't like all the EZ drain ones. I'm afraid I'd catch them on something and there'd be hell to pay...

I've got one of the EZ drain ones on both of my trucks. Have been on for over 40000 miles, each truck. Just reach under the truck and flip the lever. No more getting hot oil all over my hands and running down my arm taking the factory one out. I figure if I catch it on something, I have worse problems than it pulling out of the oil pan. :-laf

I have use the Fumoto valves on a number of vehicles for years with absolutely no problems. So far, the CTD is the first that I have had any concern about since the end of the valve lines up with the bottom of the front axle housing (not diff but axle). Not an issue so far but sonething to consider...

Been on the truck now for 50,000 miles and not a leak. I HAD the one where you connect the green tube thingy and that leaked ever scince the first change.

I have one of these also, somewhere near 25 oil changes with it so far. The difference is I BOMBed mine. If you remove your drain plug you will see the threads extend up into the pan and have four drilled passages in them that allow the last qt of oil to drain. I marked the pan below those passages, screwed the new plug in and tightened it, then marked it where the oil passages are. I removed the plug and drilled across the threads creating two holes that align with the holes in the pan. Now when I change oil I get more of the old oil out.

I've had the Fumoto lever valve for almost 50000mi. It's great. So easy to do oil changes. I also drilled mine on the end to get more of the oil out. What I like about it a lot is that few times I put too much oil. After checking the dipstick, I just opened the valve a little and got it out. You can get just few drops out if that's what you want- great for oil saples/analisis. Mine is without the sticking out nipple.

Both my dad and I have the Fumoto in our trucks... one of the best things we did for changing oil... now if they would make a self-changing filter, I'd be set!!

agreed, everyone in my family has one now. Great place to take samples for UOA's as well too.

I've had an EZ Change drain from Geno's for 60,000 now and never have had a problem with it. Sure makes changin the oil easier but it does take quite a bit longer to drain. Do the Fumoto valves drain quickly or are they slow as well?

Umm, not quite as fast as the plug pulled, but it still only takes a few minutes... I'd say pretty quick?

You said the same thing I was thinking.

Think about where the plug is located... the likelyhood of having the ez drain ripped out and not having something else catastropically damaged in the process is unlikely... for someone that does even mild to moderate offroading, ripping that plug out is unlikely IMHO...

I mean, it is protected quite well being up behind the front axle...

Actually, it is pretty vulnerable since the bottom of the "finger touvh" valve lines up with the bottom of the front axle tube...

Umm, mine is up several inches above the axletube  ... no where "even" to the bottom of the axle tube...

I have the valve model that has a tube on the bottom to attach a hose to. The bottom of the tube (which is about 1 1/4" long) lines up with the bottom of of the axle tube. This is on a stock 3500 4x4. I'm thinking of trimmimg it off since I never use a hose on it.
