I have a P7100 off a Freightliner. Two holes for the throttle assembly mount are not there. The casting for them is, but it's not drilled/tapped. The third one has an oversized "indentation". It'll have to be filled/tapped with adapter or such.

Anybody think that, given careful drilling and flat-bottom taps, that I can do these holes without ruining the case?

OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE--since the case has a number of other faults-- how difficult would it be to move all the internals from this pump to my old one? ANYBODY done a CASE SWAP?

Thanks.

I wouldn't know why you couldn't drill and tap the holes. Just be sure you don't drill too deep. On the oversize hole, there are thread inserts available, called Keenserts, for one and probably others as well. Caterpillar has their own also. Most machine shops will have them.

I have no idea about swaping the internals.

The problem I've found is that the oil feed is on the front, above the pulley. not on the backside like our trucks.

Internals will swap, but it's a big job according to the pump shop I went to today--of course they want to sell me a 1600 reman.

Seller said he'd take it back and get me an 887--that the puller guys really want this 907 as it has really big stuff in it.

Who knows. I guess I need to buy a pump stand and a dyno to really play like I want to. $$$$$$$$$.

Too expensive to change housings. The 907 (assuming I guessed the rest of the part number correctly) also has 12 mm plungers, so the 887 pump is what you want.
