were he is drilling it will have no effect on strenght of the crankshaft, the part of the crank that see's the most abuse is the area at rod journal/main journal overlap.

Thats's right, had done one years ago for a 400cid s. b chevy engine, worked great. Also asked around long time, can it be done for diesel. Finally got a green light from the industry. If you check out bigger than B series diesel cranks, they are with open journals from a factory.

Sweet deal! What exactly do you mean when you say overlap, in what way?

Do you mean he isn't drilling thru the main journals because that is where most of the stress is?
