Want to install a drive pressure guage. What type of guage do you guys use and how do you plumb it? Would like to use an electrical guage w/sender if possible. Any hints?

Yaa me 3 :-laf

I used a autometer oil pressure gauge.

I would think the heat would destroy any electrical sender.

I used 4' of 1/8" copper line and coiled it above the manifold to dissipate some heat, and from there coupled it to 1/8" nylon tubing and ran it to the gauge.

The Powerstroke use a back pressure gauge that is good up to 60 psi. It uses the same connector as a autometer gauge, It is placed about 16 in, from manifold.

I've been told to use a Boost pressure gauge, run 8-10 feet of copper tubing, wrap it around a paper towel roll, then plumb it into the gauge.

I've got an AutoMeter 100psi boost gauge. About 4' of copper off the manifold tied into a plastic line running to the gauge. Tapped into the exhaust manifold.

4' of copper is enough. I ran one for about a year. No problems with it.

Same here, about 3' copper, then plastic. Just about any pressure gage will work, 0-60 for most trucks

I just installed one on my truck. My the 18" of copper into plastic I used might not be enough. I used one coil right above the turbo. I have checked it a few times seems to be no heat at the connection.

But, I might have to re-think this one plus the exhaust brakes beats the hell out of the needle due to the pressure pulses.

Any problems with soot plugging things up?

I just pulled the thermocouple out, and got a 1/4" fitting. used a few feet of copper line I had left over from a swamp cooler install on the house, then a barb on the end. Then I just hooked it to my boost gauge.

Granted, its not a permanent setup, just for measuring high drive pressure. quick and simple.

I ran 1/4" copper from manifold to the front of radiator and just before the firewall I stepped down to 1/8". I run a autometer ultra light II 100 lb guage. It plugged up on me a couple of times so I went down to lowes and bought a silica sand filter for an air compressor. That was over 5000 miles ago, so far no plugged up lines.
