Yup...been with them since at least 1968, except for three years in in the mid 70's while stationed in Germany when we had Zurich ($$$). We were treated very well by our agents around the country and were very pleased when we filed any claims. However, in the past several years they have changed the way they do business and it is almost impossible to just drop in and have a bit of one-on-one face time with the agent to ask pertinent questions. It used to be easy and informative. Now you have to talk to the front desk person, who most of the time can't tell what time it is or what day of the week it is. Then you have to wait a week or so for them to discuss the issue with the agent before they (not the agent) gets back with you...with the wrong answer. I am tempted to go over to USAA...just waiting for the other foot to get stomped on. My loyalty cup has been spilled too much these past few years...not much left. Although most other insurance companies cannot beat the premiums I get. If they do beat the premiums, it's so miniscule and missing some small, but most important features.

USAA, just another by phone mail-order faceless company, refused to completely fix my dads vehicle from a parking lot hit and run. Further they had the nuts to tell us a "Disability" was a lifestyle choice while at first refusing to cover said "declared on policy" disability mods to a totaled vehicle. You can't make this krap up. Reached someone there who knew what a PR disaster that was going to be and finally got it covered. Yet didn't cover the contents of the vehicle that were stolen in the insurance vehicle evaluation yard. We are not with USAA anymore.

We are working with our American Family ins local office agent that's covering disability mod replacement, now, after dad's vehicle was rear ended and the Progressive ins Co of the 'not paying attention driver' just wanted to total the vehicle. Irrelevant who's fault it is: getting the vehicle fixed and back on the road is taking both insurance companies. The other driver is at risk of a lawsuit when their state minimum insurance gets exceeded by enough $ to justify one. The permanently installed disability mods exceed the book value of the vehicle alone.

I assume TDR members are carrying more than state minimums. If not ask your self what kind of coverage you get from an uninsured Illegal Alien plowing into you. Medical and under/un-insured come from your policy. Rental while your vehicle is being fixed may have to be from your policy. States vary on this. Doesn't hurt to price out 500K smooth and 1 million in coverage. It can be fairly reasonable rates vs. just the minimums. Not for the vehicle, but, for medical if you or passengers get seriously hurt.

I had State Farm from 1970 until about 3 years ago when the premiums abruptly went up for no good reason. Switched everything over to USSA and have been happy so far.

That's one of the "features" I mentioned in post #8...that may, or may not "function" as advertised.
I dont know if it does or not. But I dont get any messages from google maps. But my point is that your car insurance company doesnt know what google maps on your phone does. So they cant just raise your rates because they really dont know how you drive. BTW, the only reason I have a smart phone is because my old flip phone wouldnt work right with the bluetooth in my car.

I thought about USAA when I retired, but they only took warrant and commissioned officers at that time. My old State Farm rep was still in town so I picked up with him. He has since gone to the great farm in the sky and I have since been passed through several agents over the past 27 years. Not operated like they used to be. At least they are in town. Still, they have many claims that you must use their phone service with. Not happy there...lots of tail chasing and waste of time. Then they assign partial blame percentages to accidents...just for being in the spot the other guy wanted to occupy without confirming you were already there. At least my insurance premium did not go up.

I like the Samsung S9??? (I think) Its nice to be out and have access to the internet and a map to find a place being sort of new to the area.

can't really do that with a flip phone

Here is a screen shot of the Google maps banner that I was telling you all about the other day. It is the 2nd notification down. I get at least 2 of them per day.

Be careful about trusting online maps. I find people lost, 1/2 a mile off the road on my skid trail where I’m cutting now, despite keep out and no trespassing signs. The online map they’re following tells them they’re on a town road. The problem is that town road was abandoned in the early 1960s.

If it were me I would turn that off.

The only way that I've found to keep that from happening is to turn of location services on the phone itself. Unfortunately, I need that have location on for one of the apps I need for work. So, that isn't an option.

If anyone knows how to disable that in google itself, please let me know.

Ok. Adding to my confusion on this Google issue, I left my location services off on my phone today and look what just appeared. Is it possible that google could be pulling location data from the 911 location services that can't be voluntarily turned off on the phone?

Probably. But I bet you could go "settings, notifications, google maps" and turn the notification off. Google will still know where you are. So if you decide to stick up a gas station, make sure you dont have your phone with you. :p

Does this happen when the bluetooth connects?

You said 2 times a day. Is it when you get in the truck or is it just popping up at random times in the afternoon?

I get one at 4:30 in the morning before I go to work and then one when I am leaving to come home.

It could be wifi possibly.

Probably means nothing, but I just went to G Maps and hit settings, and I have location on, but directly beneath that I have location history off.
