My trans is leaking from the drive shaft yolk. THis is a new trans and the old one burnt up from the same problem. Does anyone have the measurements to see if its worn?

Are there any kits to fix this without replacing the yolk?

WHere is the least expensive place to get a yolk?

THanks

Well, I would have to guess that you don't have a 4x4 since you mentioned the oil coming from the trans and not a transfer case, but replacing the yoke shouldn't solve the problem. Have you tried replacing the output shaft seal that the yoke on the rear driveshat slips into?

Well, whats the deal then? If your output shaft seal is good where is it leaking from? Is your tailshaft housing on the trans cracked or something? Is it leaking from where the tailshaft housing mates to the trans? I'm

Its leaking at the seal for 3 tranies. The transmission company says if the yolk is worn 5/thousands it will leak. The truck has 200,000 miles but the yolk looks good. but i need to measure it to see if its worn.

Ok, I see. Well, if that is the same yoke for 200,000 miles I bet the surface where the seal rides on is worn down past the limit of it's sealing capabilities. Try Standard Transmission or Quad 4x4. I bet they would have a new yoke you could get from them or they could point you in a better direction than the dealer.

Why did you go through 3 NV4500s in 200,000 miles? Did they leak on road trips and burn up or something? These transmissions are very heavy duty gear boxes and going through 3 of them in that short of miles is suspicious of who built them or where you got them from.
