Need a little more help please. The rear pinion seal has been leaving a spot the size of a half dollar on the ground for a couple of weeks now. I replaced the seal this weekend. It's not leaking again yet, but I don't think it will be too long. It hs some pretty good grooves in it. The vent was stopped up as well. I want to replace the yoke on the transfer case and the rear end since it appears that the u-joint caps are spinning in each of them. The ujoints are good, but there are signs of fretting on both yokes. Does anyone make replacement yokes that use u-bolts instead of the straps?

Also, does anyone have a parts diagram for the LSD? I've got a pretty bad clunk at highway speeds when the throttle is released quickly. Most of the slop appears to be in the LSD. The backlash on the r&p seems to be pretty tight, but the carrier seems to move a lot before the pins in the cross move. Looks like between 1/8" and 1/4". I am guessing that it should be tighter than this.

Thanks for any insight.

If the pins are moving in the LSD they are probably wore enough to cause the clunk. On mine the pinion gears are the slop point and the thrust washers are showing some wear also so I figure it is about time for a rebuilt LSD unit. Backlash should be tight in the D70 or it will eat itself up fairly fast so that is probably good. The rebuilt LSD units are available thru different suppliers for about $500. I have no info on quality or durability or the rebuilt units. Some can be bench rebuilt but others take special tools so a lot of places just buy a rebuilt unit.

Chevy used the u-bolts on the t-cae and rear ends but I do not know whether you can match these to the 205 and D70 without having a custom drive line built. Your best bet is find a drive line shop somewhere and see if they have any knowledge of cross reference for the yokes.

Once the straps stretch you need to but new ones or you will see what you have with the caps starting to spin in the yokes. If they have spun much you will probably need new yokes also as the new straps wont be able to hold.
