I have 600hp and have done many 15-20psi 4wd boosted launches. The driveline is stock except for the flexplate, TC and transmission.
 
That's sounds promising as I don't think that my plans will get me over the 600 hundred mark. I just wasn't for sure if it was one of those understood things that didn't get talked about.
 
I don't see any of the 550-700hp trucks changing anything but flexplate(a must), tc and transmission. Mine is 3 disc TC and all billet tranmission built to race.



2wds need track tires and traction bars, but 4wd mostly just run in 4wd.



I raced on BFG 315s for the first 55k miles and then switched to BFG 285s.



Have put a lot of hard launches at the track for the last 3 years. Just normal service on the transfer case and diffs.
 
Well I now I know that as soon as I try to do a pull this summer or race one of my buddies I am sure to find the weak spot. I am getting the feeling that I may have jinxed myself posting this thread.
 
Get some good ladder bars to keep the rear driveshaft in the truck when you go truck pulling. A buddy of mine pulled his 06 a lot last summer. He made several upgrades during the summer. Just before he put bars on, you could hear the yokes hitting at the end of a pull. :eek: It made some scary sounds, that all went away with some good bars. He was heading for disaster without them.

It's not that I am worried just curious. With the power levels out there and some of the fun that is being had racing and pulling I just figured that some u-joints or axles might have been sacrificed.



I had the rear U-joint go also think that it was bad from the get go
 
In a hard pull, the rear end will start to pull forward and point the pinion up. Then the ujoint starts to bind and fails. A ujoint failure like this almost always, in my experiances, breaks either the yoke on the pinion, or the yoke on the driveshaft, or both. I've seen it a lot that you might win $20-$50 and loose a $300+ dollar drive shaft. :-laf I've even done it. Its not that profitable... ..... ;) It's easy to wrap up $500 in one $50 dollar ujoint failure, that could be prevented with some bars.
