Driver Seat Tilt

My driver electric seat on the 2007.5. The base tilt (both front and rear tilt) up has quit working. Down still works until it goes as far as it can and then won't come back up. I took the switches out and checked them with an ohmmeter and it shows them working. Any clues?

Pretty sure that it is fairly common for the plastic gears on the motor/seat to partially or fully strip out. Guessing that yours are partially stripped and gravity (or your weight ...LOL) make it easy for the motor to go down but NOT up again. IIRC, someone is selling replacment gear assemblies, but they are NOT available from Mopar. I'll try to remember where and post back.

Neither motor is running in the up direction.

This morning I unplugged the connector at the motor and jumped 12V & gnd directly to motor. It ran perfectly. Reversed wires & ran perfectly the other way. I then took the switches out & took it apart. The contacts are small inside. I looked at them with a magnifying glass and they were dark. I took an emory board and lightly sanded the contacts then sprayed with contact cleaner. Put it back together & now both tilts work good. I cleaned all the contacts while I had it apart.

The upholsterer I had rebuild my seat had a customer who replaced the gears with metal.
