Hay guys and gals

My driver side window started acting funny the other day . I tried to roll the window down and it did nothing so then i placed left hand on door and hit it with right hand above the door handle on the inside and then it started to work.

The hit method seemed to work for a while and now nothing works. I have taken the door panel off and have checked the switch and it seems to be good shape checked power to the motor and it checks out the groves where the window slides up and down on seems good .
What have i missed or what do i check or do next

i just went through this with my '02 (I guess they're the same?). What I ended up doing is to pull the cover off to get at the controller. Unplug the controller and flip it over. You can pop off the bottom of the controller and get to the electronics. You will be able to see exactly how the window and door lock toggles engage the switching mechanism on the circuit board. Bend up the little ears that engage the switch and you'll be good to go.

What happens is these little brass contacts flatten out over time. When you try to toggle the window or door lock up or down it can't push the contact far enough to engage the switch. When you bend the ears back up you get the full throw of the toggle and contact is made.

This may sound complicated but go ahead and take that switch apart. There's nothing in there to mess up (heck. . it's broke anyway!) and the only moving part is the brass contacts. You'll see just what needs to be done. Piece o cake really.

I did check all connections everything was good so i figured it was the motor called dodge and found out the assemble was $200++ i then called Oreilly and found it for $51+tax and core.
Putting back in was not as bad as i thought every thing works and i am happy.
Thanks for the help and advise reading your replies made me slow down and rethink.

thanks Mike

Where to get a good power window switch?

I had the driver side power window quit going up in my 96' last night.

I needed to get it up before the rain. I ended up removing the switch & taking it apart.

Then with the plastic toggles off I plugged in the switch base. I could then activate the internal switches with a small screwdriver. I've had problems with the passenger side swith last year. When the copper contacts get old & flatten out they stop connecting the circuit. I've had some break internally as well. I'm tired if trying to bend them back & make them work, just to have to fix them a month or 3 later. I plan to just go with a new switch that may last awhile. This summer I'll open up the door & clean all the window & power lock mechanisms, etc. New speaker time anyway.

I plan to order / but a new drivers side switch asap... . But from where? Rockauto has them currently backordered for 14 days..... I'll try calling Napa later today. Anyone know anywhere else to check... . ?

I had the same problem with the driver side on my 01. I finally used a silicon spray on the rubber seals just above the door panal and haven't had a problem since.
