I have a 2001.5 dodge ram 2500 diesel, and have had this in a year or more ago for the same issue. I guess they replaced something in the switch assembly, not sure what they did. Now the problem is back, and the other day it was freezing and I went out and my window wouldnt roll down. I left it alone and now a few days later, I tried and it didnt want to roll down. I kept fiddling with the switch and then it rolled down. Now it doesnt want to roll up. Is there any good solution to this problem. Is there simply a couple or three wires that I can wire a switch into. I'm sort of tired of this unreliable switch unit design, if that is the case. Any suggestions for a better fix on this?

I've taken the switch apart and cleaned the contacts. There's two spdt contacts and the rocker activates one or the other. You could use two spdt push buttons to do the same thing. You need plus, ground and two wires to the window motor.

If you can't repair the switch then replacing the entire switch assembly is the best approach.

My passenger side would hang up and not roll up. I smacked the door panel with my hand a couple of times (more or less over the motor), and it started working and has not hung up again.

Well I ordered the switch assembly and replaced it. About a $50 module. That didnt fix it either, but initially it seemed like the motor tried to move but I could be wrong. I think the motor is sticking so maybe tomorrow I will go vibrate it some and see if I can get it to work. I hope it didnt burn out the new module in the process. Is this a fused circuit? Maybe I will look into that tomorrow too.

Looks like a pretty simple circuit.

Thanks for the drawing and the replies. I tried replacing the switch module as mentioned, but today I went out and held the switch forward and gave the door panel a couple of good whacks just above the switch assembly and the window started rolling up, and I got it fully rolled up. Apparently the motor is sticking and doesnt want to begin moving even though it's receiving the drive signals to do so. Maybe I need to replace the motor to fix this.. Thanks for the replies...
